Code of Conduct

At CELF, we value the positive impact that connected, responsible leaders have on their community. Our code of conduct outlines CELF’s expectations of our participants and broader CELF community.

Introduction
At CELF, we value the positive impact that connected, responsible leaders have on their community.

Our mission is “to build future leaders from all walks of life, who can reimagine a stronger Waikato from a social, environmental, cultural, and economic perspective. These leaders take charge of their lives while influencing others positively, resulting in a significant contribution to Waikato communities and society, and New Zealand as a whole.”

We are committed to creating an environment that is truly open for everyone, one that is friendly, safe, and welcoming for all, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, disability, ethnicity, or religion.

We expect;
Individuals and the collective to:

  • Follow this code of conduct and comply with all applicable laws, regulations, rules, and policies that uphold the principles of responsible leadership

  • Be in open, honest, and professional

  • Respect, value and appreciate the input of others, their paradigm, culture, and perspective

  • Embrace diversity and inclusion

  • Be considerate of how our behaviours and actions impact others and our environment

  • Challenge unsafe and inappropriate behaviour

  • Commit to the CELF and its mission

  • Uphold the policies of your own organisation in all activities you participate in.

  • Invest in building and maintaining relationships

  • Uphold your integrity

  • Honour confidentiality and privacy

  • Observe the Chatham House Rule

  • Honour one another

  • As a participant of CELF’s Elevate Leadership Programme, commitment  to 100% attendance

  • Be collaborative

  • Be curious

  • Be prepared to challenge and be challenged

  • Be honest with yourself and with others

  • Be present

Reputation
Be aware of your role as a representative of the organisation you represent and the organisations who support and sponsor CELF.  Likewise, keep in mind how your conduct has a significant influence on CELF’s reputation, that of our key stakeholders and your own.  We trust that you will always exercise good judgement, especially at social events and that you are aware of the provisions of this policy. 

Psychological Safety
We are committed to providing and ensuring a safe, trusted, and professional environment.

We do not tolerate behaviour that creates an offensive, uncomfortable or a threatening environment. Nor is any unreasonable and unwelcome behaviour that offends, humiliates, distresses, intimidates, or makes anyone feel unsafe.  We are all responsible for ensuring this type of behaviour does not occur.

Physical Safety
We are committed to ensuring that everyone returns home to their families healthy and unharmed. Everyone is responsible and plays a part.

Where there is opportunity for a social component and alcohol consumption is an option, please be cognisant of your personal and professional obligations alongside this policy and the applicable rules and laws.

Excessive consumption of alcohol, use of drugs and inappropriate behaviours will not be tolerated.

Our Environment
We respect the environment and seek to minimise the impact of our activities and make contribution to environmental sustainability wherever possible.

Consequences
Where there is unacceptable behaviour or a complaint made, CELF will take appropriate action at our discretion.  This may mean the person will not be eligible for graduation and/or is excluded from the programme.
